Ebooks

Narratorr can surface an ebook you keep beside an audiobook — an EPUB in the book’s library folder — on that book’s page, ready to download. Narratorr doesn’t search for or download ebooks itself: you place the file, Narratorr shows it.

Go to Settings > General and turn on Enable ebook support in the Ebooks section. Default: off.

Enabling it also exposes your ebooks over the Public API — that’s how narratorr-requests offers Download and Send to Kindle to your family.

Drop a single .epub directly into the book’s library folder, next to the audio files:

Author Name/
Book Title/
Book Title.m4b
Book Title.epub
  • The file must sit at the top level of the book’s folder — EPUBs inside subfolders aren’t picked up
  • The .epub extension is matched case-insensitively; hidden (dot-prefixed) files are ignored
  • Imports copy audio only, so an EPUB that arrives with a download never lands in the library on its own — you place it there yourself

With the feature on, each imported book’s detail page gets an Ebook panel. What it shows depends on what’s in the folder:

StateWhat you see
AvailableThe filename, its size, and a chapter count (when the EPUB’s table of contents is readable). No badge — the download icon in the panel header serves the file.
NoneNo EPUB in the folder yet. Drop one in and rescan.
N foundMore than one EPUB in the folder. Pick the one that belongs to this book and click Use this one.
Not readableThe file isn’t a valid EPUB, with a plain-language reason (incomplete file, damaged archive, and so on). Replace the file and re-check.
DRM-protectedThe file’s chapters are encrypted. You can still download it from the panel header, but Narratorr won’t remove DRM, so it can’t be sent to Kindle and isn’t offered over the API.

The panel header has a Re-check ebook arrow in every state. It re-judges just the ebook — a newly dropped file, a replaced one, or a deleted one shows up after a re-check, without re-probing the book’s audio. The book’s full Refresh & Scan picks up ebook changes too.
